Scissortail HCM (Powered by UKG) Tightening Security Standards

New Multifactor Authentication Requirements on the Horizon

As of October 1 2022, Scissortail HCM (Powered by UKG) will bring the new users a more secure HRIS experience. New Multifactor Authentication requirements are being rolled out to ensure that all personal identifying information (PII) is fully secure on the cloud-based solution.

This month, new Scissortail HCM implementations will ensure that every user from system administrators to the front-end employee self-service users as well as applicants will utilize two factor authentication on their personal account when logging into the application.

In 2017, it was said that hackers stole nearly 250,000 web logins each week.  Knowing that the bad actors are getting better at what they do makes requirements like the Multifactor Authentication (MFA) incredibly important. MFA makes stealing your personal information harder for the average criminal because it uses a combination of at least two separate factors.

This new requirement will happen every seven days and follows the industry standard of receiving a secure code via email, voice over phone, or text message to be entered into the application.  Once the code has been entered in a device and the “trust this device” option has been selected; the users will be able to login as usual on that same device for the next 6 days before another authentication is required.

Current Scissortail HCM users will see this new feature in their systems as of January 1, 2023.
